DIRECTION!!!

Ladies, Gentlemen, and the rest of you.

It has been brought to my attention that we are doing a bit of drifting in our design and story development. So... we have prepared for you a new and exciting task, a central direction that we will be following until we arrive at the desired destination.

Design the cast.

Ron's pre-giant-freaking-turtle post consists of stylized versions of each character in the film, together, more or less complete, tied together by commen elements in design.

Let us all do that. Each of us will put up, in one post, every character in the film, done in the same style and at the same level of completion. That is the format. That is the challenge. That is our direction.

I hope that, by doing this, we will arrive upon a style in which to continue our adventures in story and design, a style that we can all emulate, and a style that rocks.

With respect to backgrounds, I spent quite the pretty penny on books in chinatown- books on architechture, culture, clothing, etc. I would like these books to be used in development, so I'd like to hold off a bit on serious set development. Let's nail down our characters. Give 'em some personality. Give 'em some style.

Go to, and rock hard.

You know, it kinda sucks that you posted this just FOUR minutes before I posted some earlier sketches that definitely fit in the "wandering" category...now people will think I'm dense...though I guess that wouldn't be an inaccurate assumption...

umm... I kind of like having the wandering... it allows everyone ot see what's in the works and take elements from other designs and then build upon them. That's what I've enjoyed doing anyway. I ddin't think we were trying for a unified design as of yet. This way it seems like you have to xome to a final decision on how it should look before you post anything and then there really isn't a chance ot play with the designs...

Perhaps people could just post some drawings in the style as well...?

Plus, after we see everyones, we're still going to have to integrate them anyways, so why do a whole set at once?

People.

For the love.

I have no problem with posting pre-design sketches, I have no problem with posting multiple design sets, and I have no problem with building off of other people's designs.

I think that, as long as we have the goal in mind to arrive at (and post!) the cast, and not just a random whooping crane that we thought could be in the intro or something, then we're good. I want us all to be working TOWARDS a unified style and a cast of characters with related design. Ron, for example, built off of previous posts by Simini, Eric, Me, and others when he posted his cast.

But that is the GOAL. Okay? Questions?

Also, Ron, you're doing fabulously, don't worry.

just misunderstood I suppose... thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for understanding. It's refreshing to have you tell me what you really think and when my ideas aren't clear.
