Some concept ideas.
I was reprimanded for having not posted anything yet so here ya go. A couple different ideas for river spirits and some background stuff.
That crazy looking Mexican is the guy that beats on little children. It’s not a very good drawing but there are a few things I liked about it that people could play with if they wanted. I made his eyes big round and crazy like those Chinese dragon kites. I also like that his nose is upturned and he is missing a tooth. These uglifying features seemed to match the attitude of the protagonist.

Way to be, Ron. I like the environment especially, I think it's got a nice mood to it, and I REALLY like the idea of the water spirit as a serpent... but Simini will hate it. Thanks for your work.
I like it better than the turtle, Jake. and last time you suggested a dragon I'm pretty sure I thought it could work. so there.
And I actually do really like that drawing. Nice job, Ron.
I stand corrected. Thoroughly and completely corrected. With a 'so there' and everything. So... yeah. Nice job, Ron.
(sorry Simini)
yeah.. so there is pretty much the end all to any argument... you don't stand a chance once that is thrown out... Which is why i use it.
and I really like the trees in your landscape.
the river in spirited away was a dragon, and that was awesome!!! Even though it was a japanese movie the style was more chinese than anything, so I wonder if a lot of river spirits were dragons? BUt then again haku was more dog like than serpent like....how many dogs live in water? I know serpents do....it doesn't really make much sense, but in my opinion dogs are more appealing....ooo I just got an idea!
